A Valentines Card: Hypochondriac Love

My wife Bee and I got some time alone the other day and our conversation got off track.  Not to make light of any maladies, it's just that Bee's comments didn't work with my romantic maneuvering.
Anyway, this card is going to be for her this year along with the usual stuff. Candy, flowers and dinner.

A Life Drawing

Yesterday I felt like going to a figure drawing session. First time since November.
This is a 25 minute sketch.

VW Bug

This is a pencil drawing. I couldn't get a decent scan, but I kind of like it anyway. I am thinking of inking it and coloring it  with my computer. I will probably loose the eye. though.

Some masks and a Voodoo Gator

This one started as as some pencil sketches of masks that I saw on the internet.  The masks jogged my imagination and a Voodoo Gator appeared.
I inked the pencil sketch page and colored it with Photoshop and digital pad.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to All!

Just a hasty sketch from this morning. I haven't been drawing much lately, but hope to start again soon.
So good cheer to friends and passers-by.

A birthday card, Geisha Kitty

Just a quick one for our oldest son Chumley. It is not of our present cat, but a cat we had before who lived to a decent age. She was particularly close to Chumley when he was growing up.

Sketches in a small sketchbook

I forgot my sketchbook one day when my wife, Bee and I were out. I usually sit somewhere and sketch because of mobility issues while she goes about her business.
So, Bee graciously went a store near where we were and bought me a small sketchbook four by five inches or so.
Here are a few sketches in the small book so far.

Dancing cat pen and wash sketch.

Bee's gone dragon boating so it was a bit slow around here this evening. I practiced my watercoloring again. This is a sketch of one of our cats, Bella as a dancer.

Sketch, pen and wash Balinese Cat.

My wife, Bee, and I are going to Brooklyn, NY to see my youngest son and his wife. So, because my mobility is quite limited I am taking my sketch book, pencils and pens. That way they can park me somewhere when they are sight seeing if I can't make it.
I was going to take my watercolor field box, but apparently Bee sent the bag that my paint was in to Goodwill.
I found a travel box at the art store on sale and in my price range that I think will be ok for sketching. It is a Raphael Watercolor Travel Box, seen here.
It doesn't have a burnt umber in it so I miss that a lot.
Anyway, here is a pen and wash sketch of Balinese cat trying out my new paints.
My scanner does funny things, but I think everyone can see it.

To Sketches from this week

I was looking at old videos of The Cure and it struck me that the singer, Rober Smith, looked like Edward Scissorhands. I looked it up and sure enough Tim Burton,
the director, was a big fan of The Cure.
Here is a very quick sketch of the Edward Scissorhands and Robert Smith on notebook paper.
Just Quick cartoons, not meant to be totally accurate.
I am probably the last one to get the connection.

Also this week I learned pictures that people take of themselves with their cell phones to share on social media are called selfies. I was thinking that when I don't have anything in particular that I want to draw I could draw some of the selfie photos I see,. Only I would make all the ladies princesses and all the guys hideous.
This is one of my nephews.

Last, here is a video of The Cure.
